Easter-out of order
Our Easter was wonderful! I will admit, though, that it was a bit out of order. I had grand plans of fun-filled days before Easter, but we got loaded down with responsibilities and didn't get around to the festivities. Rowan had a big party at school on Thursday so at least he got started early. Friday John and Rowan had the day off so we went out to the D's house for play. They have moved to a great home with lots of land. John was helping build a fence around a big garden that we're co-opping (for lack of a better word) with a few other families. We are so excited to see what actually grows. They planted collard greens, lettuces, potatos, onions, strawberries, and carrots and will plant tomatos, squash, blueberries, cucumbers, okra, green beans, and corn after April 15.
On Easter Sunday we went to church, of course. I sang in the choir and we put on a beautiful performance. The weather was pretty chilly so we took pictures afterward, which was a mistake since everyone was already hungry and I still had a lot of lunch to make. Holland would NOT open her eyes-she was in a mood!
Our Easter lunch was delicious-ham, pineapple casserole, asparagus, warm potato and green bean salad with lemon dressing, rolls, and strawberry shortcake (with homemade whipped cream) for dessert. I was pleased and so was everyone else.
After lunch was rest time-for all of us! Then we had an egg hunt outside as the weather had warmed up quite a bit. We hid the eggs 3 times and the kids had a great time searching our big yard.
I didn't want to cheat us out of Easter traditions, we THEN colored eggs when we came in from the hunt. I know it sounds crazy, but you just have to do it! Besides, the NC Tarheels were playing basketball and we could all watch and decorate at the same time. It worked out quite well actually.
Now we're settled in for a great spring break week where we don't have to rush off to school in the mornings and can stay in our pajamas most of the morning!!! The weather is going to be beautiful later in the week so we plan to be outside-as long as the pollen isn't bothering us too much.
